7.    Treasurer’s report

The Profit & Loss is showing an operational surplus year to date of £5629.90, plus donations of £2673, recovery of the wall accident excess of £250 and interest of £1908. £6800 grant from community foundation towards the cost of building repairs.

To date, only one company is available to provide an external examination and present end of year accounts.

Action JH:  to ask a retired accountant if she is willing to help and report to IF.  Agreed: If no other option becomes available, continue with the current accountant.

8.   Power supply & energy update

NCEL has been advised that we will join the project. Northumberland Estates have been informed and discussions are underway with a solicitor. A roof survey was carried out on 14th February 2025. However, there are concerns about its value and quality.

Action: IF and KM are following up with NCEL

9.   Development Plan

Options were presented to resolve water collecting by the gate. Three solutions were considered, and paper circulated showing the most appropriate two. An estimate obtained for the selected proposal: to cut out concrete between stone gate pillar at front gate, fit a linear drain with a small grill opening connected to yard drain and concrete new gate way to stop water pooling.

Agreed: The estimate costing £387 was accepted.

Action:  KM to ask the builder to carry out the work at a time that fits in with other work commitments.

Coldness in the toilet area is probably caused by a pipe running through the ceiling to the radiator causing an airlock. It may have a simple solution.

Action: KM to ask a plumber to investigate

10.  Outcomes of the review of the premises

From the outcomes so far, all areas are covered in the current development plan.

Estimates and further discussions with builders have highlighted very different approaches to the work involved in external repairs.  This has shown significant differences in costs. Before agreeing on a contract further advice from Northumberland Estates will be sought.

Action: KM to draw on expertise at Northumberland Estates to seek the best advice on the causes of damp/mould in the building and to recommend the most appropriate remedy.

Agreed: Defer decision to external repairs until expert advice is received.

11.  Tennis Court/ Bowls car park

Bowls club has the power to decide on whether to allow the car park to become a tennis court.   If the proposal is to do so, leasing
arrangements need to be discussed to ensure that responsibilities, liabilities and legal arrangements are clear and agreed with the V H Committee.

Action: JB to report to Bowls Club

12.  AOB

JM reported that the W I is folding next month. The crockery is to be donated to the village hall for use on formal occasions. GW reported that the Autumn Club was struggling to continue.
