The report was circulated prior to the meeting.  Clarification was given on the timing of the report and payments of invoices. The year-to-date surplus of £595.17 excluding donations is much as expected.

8.    Power supply & energy update

Sinton’s, legal advisers asked a series of questions relating to historic leases and to the impact of panels on the roof during adverse weather. They were referred to Northumberland Estates and NCEL respectively for responses.

9.   Development Plan, cleaning & floor

Building work is scheduled for the first week in August and groups not represented on the committee been alerted about the closure w/b 4th. The Photographic group is aware of the need to access the kitchen via the chair store. The BALLance is likely to meet on Thursday if possible.

JM advised the cleaner not to clean on 3rd, but to clean thoroughly on 10th once the building work had been completed.  NR offered to open the hall for the builder.KM will be contactable by telephone if needed.

Action: JM to check that the Monday evening Bridge group is aware of building work.

KM’s paper on the hall and supper room floor set out 4 options for consideration. After much discussion the committee agreed that light sanding (Option 3) would provide a very short-term solution, repairs /replacement of worn boards (Options 1 and 2) would require frequent and costly maintenance.  Replacing the floor with a long-term, low maintenance material such as Karndean presented the safest option and best value for money.

Action: JH to find out if listed building consent is needed for Option 4 before a decision can be made.

Agreed: no maintenance on the hall floors this year.

10.  AOB

An electrician will repair the emergency light that is not working and change the dimmer switch panel.

Cost of paper towels is over £400 per annum.

Agreed: should replace paper towels with electric hand driers.

Action: KM will investigate.

Roger Davidson confirmed he would become a trustee.
