7.    Treasurer’s report

There is a year-to-date loss of £438.74, excluding donations of £1550.95. This is the effect of paying the annual bill for insurance at the beginning of the year; covered by a donation from the Parish Council. The VHC thanked the PC for their ongoing support.  A grant payment of £17049 from community lottery for building work was also received.

8.    Power supply & energy update

Sintons, NCEL solicitors, are forwarding a draft lease to review for the solar panels and battery programme; once agreed and signed off by Northumberland Estates the work should progress.

9.   Development Plan

Grant funding received for most of the work.  There is a slight shortfall of £151 to enable the committee to reach the target set to unlock funding from Sunley Foundation.

The contractor who examined the hall floor to quote for revarnishing noted that part of the floor was in good condition and could be sanded to remove the colour and revarnished, but the flooring in the lower part of the hall and supper room was less likely to take deep sanding.  The contractor will present other options for the committee to consider.

Action: approved payment of £151 comes from VH towards the development programme and to enable the Sunley Grant to be released.

Agreed: wait for further options from the flooring contractor before finalising the work needed.

Building work is scheduled for the first week in August and the hall will be closed during that week, except for one event on the evening of 6th August.

10.  Offer of independent examination of accounts

May not be cost effective to separate out the IE from the presentation of accounts.  Borders group currently provide IE only.

Action: IF to ask the Borders group if they would be willing to do both.

Highlights, film for children, Mama Mia, Church Quiz

The Highlight show ‘Graffiti Classics’ has been booked for 15 November 2025. Children’s annual film festival is between 12 -28th November. The village hall will offer two sessions for Hipsburn School, 19th November either am or pm and pm 21st November. Proceeds from the raffle for Mama Mia (1st November) will be donated to the village hall to help to cover any shortfall if costs exceed income from tickets sales. The Church Quiz Night has been booked for 4th October. If any committee members are present on the evening, they will help.

Action:  JH to contact film festival organisers and Hipsburn School re film dates and The Church re quiz night.
