Lesbury Village Hall

A little gem at the heart of the community

Dance Fitness

11:00 to 12:00 on Thursdays

The Dance Fitness class at Lesbury Village Hall is a mixed ability group, who like to laugh whilst also getting and keeping fit.  A lot of the time they laugh at me, the teacher, when I’m not quite doing what I’m supposed to.

We start with a gentle warm up and move onto slow stretches of all the main muscle groups, before moving onto the dance routine of the moment.  I usually take 6 weeks to teach and polish a new routine until we’re all remembering what comes next.  The music I use is quite variable, but I like popular music and usually include at least one Robbie Williams track per class. We’ve used a number of Show Tunes like ‘Maria’ from West Side Story, ‘One Singular Sensation’ from Chorus Line and most recently ‘Rewrite the Stars’ from The Greatest Showman. We also did a Burlesque routine to ‘Feeling Good’ by Michael Bublé.  I offer options so all abilities can participate.

We also do some strength exercises to slower music either on or supported by a chair especially so we can improve balance which is a must to stay fit and active whatever your age.  Finally, we stretch all our main muscles as a cool down.

I’m Tina Stroud, teacher of Dance Fitness.  I’m Keep Fit Association trained and I retrained in 2017, following a break in my Dance Fitness teaching career.
