A little gem at the heart of the community

 Lesbury Bowls Club

School Lane Lesbury NE66 3PS

Founded in 1985, Lesbury Sports and Recreational club is considered one of the “friendliest” bowling clubs in Northumberland.

A 4-rink club with a mix of active and social members, the club is affiliated to Bowls Northumberland and Bowls England. The season itself runs from April to September, the start and end dates agreed by the elected management committee.

The club participates in both the men’s and women’s leagues in Northumberland. In addition to the league games, other internal competitions are held each season for ladies, gentlemen and mixed numbers. There are also open days, when other clubs in the county visit the club, which is a great day out not only for playing bowls but mixing with other liked minded players.

Our current membership is around 50 and there are two types of membership. There is the full playing membership which is £75 per season (£50 for the first season) and social membership £10 per season. As far as the first year is concerned, depending on when the person joins the club, the first year’s membership will be on a sliding scale based on the months to play.

Taster days are all year round and can be booked at any time of the year.

In addition to the above, the club has free car parking and will provide free teas, coffee and biscuits throughout the playing season.

You will always find something going on even at the club, even if it is just a roll up on with some members old or new. So come along, all visitors are welcome. Experienced or just beginning, a warm welcome is waiting for you.
