Sunday 19th November is an unmissable date for your diary. It’s when the celebrated Oxford Concert Party is to make a rare foray into the north to give a concert in the Village Hall. Sponsored by the very successful “Highlights Rural Touring Scheme” this group of six superb musicians will bring their special brand of entertainment into the intimate surroundings of the old village school with its brand new toilet facilities.
Lesbury has been chosen by Highlights to host this prestigious group partly because of its track record of selling out shows (Baghdaddies, 4 Square, Belshazzar’s Feast, Balbir Singh Indian Dance and The Chef Show) over the past two years. This one will be no exception so don’t delay.
Playing together for 25 years the Oxford Concert Party charms and delights its audiences wherever they go. Described as “a decidedly unstuffy bunch of superb musicians” (Daily Telegraph) they create a rich, colourful and expressive sound, and their vibrant virtuosity, and zany offbeat humour makes for an unforgettable performance.
The Oxford Concert Party are a lively and highly entertaining group of first-rate musicians with a unique repertoire which ranges from Vivaldi to Piazzolla, via Argentinian Tango, Jewish Klezmer, French café music, and music from Eastern Europe, Ireland and Scotland.
“one of the most entertaining, mould-breaking groups around” Oxford Times.
